Food
This isn’t health class, but studies show that food is the single most determining factor about how long you will live and the quality of your life...key factors when we consider about peace. This week we will explore food, and how it impacts our lives the world around us.
Directions: Choose from the menu of options below. This assignment is worth 40 points, so, if you want a 100% A+ grade, you will want to earn a combination of 40 points worth of choices from the menu. Be ready to present your art and/or discuss your ideas in class on Tuesday. Late assignments will be penalized 10% per day late.
1. Life Signifiers: Uncovering the Reality of You...Create a piece of art which (could include both written, visual, or physical representations) which responds to one of the following prompts. (Up to 10 points per prompt; consider the rubric at the bottom of the this page.)
A. What you eat and why?
B. Where you eat and why?
C. What you do cook yourself?
D. What your parents cook for you?
E. Guilty pleasures— stuff you eat but know you should not eat
E. What you will not eat and why?
F. Your typical day: what you eat from start to finish
G. The best food you’ve ever eaten?
H. The worst food you’ve ever eaten food?
I. Food traditions? (holidays, birthdays, etc.)
J. Your perfect meal? (in detail)
K. Philosophy: what food means to you?
2. Watch World Starvation Video, and blog your thoughts/analysis from each video you watch (Up to 5 points per blog post).
3. -Check out the UN World Poverty and Hunger Goals webpage by clicking on the following link: World Hunger
-After studying the webpage, create a way to both display the information provided from the UN and offer your own
thoughts/analysis. (What should we do? etc.)
-Your display may be in the form of an exhibit or poster to be viewed in the hallway or website.
-I recommend using Weebly to create the website (Up to 30 points)
4. To celebrate Kristyna's time with us, play a social studies game of Kristyna's choice (Carcassonne, Chess, Apples to Apples, etc.).
You may only chose this option one day out of the week (5 points per 25 minutes of gaming)...You will be missed Tyna :)

100% + (Advanced) Student demonstrated a thoughtful and personal quest for the given subject. Your words and finding appear advanced, as evidenced by your use of complete sentences, sources, and depth of research.
92-99% (Proficient) Student demonstrated a sufficient and relevant quest for the given subject. Your words and finding appear proficient, as evidenced by your analysis, sources, and depth of research.
64-91%(Partly Proficient) Student demonstrated a minimal and superficial quest for the given subject. Your words and finding appear partly proficient, as evidenced by your use of words, sources, and depth of research.
1-63% Points (Incomplete) You have remnants of knew knowledge but did research provide the research necessary, effort, and thought.
