The stabbing pain in his side that greets him every morning is a blessing, because it's one more day that he survived starving. The water that he drank from is unclean, and filled with things that can determine the fate of his sickness. His rib cage is showing and he can't breathe without feeling pain in his chest. "I'm hungry" is the reoccurring thought that constantly goes through his head. Yet, we take plates full of food, and throw it away. As a kid our plates are inspected with the line of, "The food on your plate could feed a dying kid, so you better eat that." Instead, why don't we skip a meal or two? Why don't we take that food and distribute it to people who need it more then we do? We frown upon waste, but we have people's lives who are wasting away..all because of that plate. There is no longer a stabbing pain in his side, or a breath in his chest. The boy was the victim, and hunger won the game.

So, I understand your ideas on waste, but I also think that skipping meals won't help starving people. Even if you skip a meal, the food doesn't just go to third-world countries that have people starving to death. What do you think could be a real solution to world hunger? I'm also confused on your statement, "The boy was the victim, and hunger won the game." Do all games have to have victims? Those are two incongruent things, and I'm having trouble making sense of them.

World starvation is obviously a big problem, but we sit back and wait for someone with "more power and more say" to do something, so help in anyway they can. But, it doesn't matter who you are. It doesn't matter how much influence you have on the world or anyone, it just matters that you're wanting to make a difference. Starvation is something that can make headlines one day but be totally forgotten about the next, even with those images of children too thin burned in our memories, we find a way to forget. To me, I think the goverment in countries like Africa, are sort of a problem. They keep all the goods sent from wealthier countries and barely give any of it out to the people that really need it. And have you seen the government officials? They look very healthy, while people in their country drink water that they bathe in. World starvation is not something that can be fixed over night, but I have faith that it will someday be something that seems so ridiculous because everyone has full bellies when they fall asleep. I don't know how that will happen, or when, but with a lot of people willing to help and a lot of people willing to be helped, it will happen.
